ProDanza Commission

Through the David Herrera Performance Company's Latinx Hispanic Dancers United initiative, "ProDanza” is a collaboration commission for in-person dance performance or dance film by a San Francisco dance artist. The commission is meant to stimulate artist collaboration between a lead Latinx choreographer and another Latinx collaborative artist(s) of their choice for a live dance performance or dance film work.


Collaborators can include but are not limited to:

  • choreographer

  •  lead dancer

  • costume designer

  • composer or sound engineer

  • film maker

  • visual artist

  • media designer

  • and more.

Eligibility:
●    Lead Artist must live in or have an organization address in San Francisco
●    Lead Artist must be legally able to work in the U.S. to collect funds
●    Lead Artists are responsible for their own distribution of funds and taxes regarding the commission
●    Event must take place in San Francisco (performance or film screening)
●    Collaborator(s) can be based anywhere in the U.S.
●    Collaborator(s) must be confirmed at time of application


Expectations: Once selected, Artists will be required to:
●    Attend an orientation
●    Document your work with your collaborator
●    Participate in a DHPCo Works-in-Progress showing (January 2027)
●    Credit Latinx Hispanic Dancers United’s “ProDanza” in any promotional materials or programs for your event
●    Give a final report (a template will be provided by DHPCo)

●    Application Deadline: April 29, 2026
●    Announcement: End of May 2026


Projects should already be in “active” status and moving into a performance or presentation (i.e.premiere, film showing, work-in-progress, etc). We highly encourage applicants to include details like confirmed or potential funding sources, a secured or potential venue, past producing experience, and set production dates.

Consider the quality of your videos when submitting. Grainy, hard to see videos will not enhance your application.
